Why invest in a wine-producing property?
Wine, just the same as haute-couture or jewellery, is part of French luxury. To invest in a wine-producing property, to produce and distribute one's own wine and to live in a prestigious house surrounded by vineyards is, of course, a dream. As well as the asset investment if there is one, the acquisition of a wine-producing property also has other advantages, from a tax point of view for instance. In parallel, there is also, for any entrepreneur, the attraction of the economic challenge: to develop or bring back to life a wineproducing company, to develop distribution networks, to strengthen the name of the label, to create the packaging, to manage a team and especially to adapt one's wine to international markets.
What is the specific attraction of Provence?
The Côte d'Azur, besides its Mediterranean climate and its luminous landscapes depicted by the greatest artists, benefits from an international prestige. Its gastronomy, its wines and its incomparable atmosphere have made it an exceptional place for over a century.
What are its particularities in terms of product?
One of the greatest advantages of Provence is the rosé. It is not only a wine which reaches a level of quality recognised throughout the world, but also a product whose sales do not stop increasing, at a stable price, and which, in terms of working capital, offers the huge advantage of not generating stocks.

What is the average price of a vineyard in Provence?
It is difficult to speak of an average price as you find wine-producing properties from 750,000 euros to 35 million euros. But I would say that a large part of our sales are located between 2.5 and 7 million euros.

What would you recommend to a potential buyer?
Despite being a very attractive region from a tourism point of view and therefore extremely favourable to wine sales, I always recommend my customers to think about the sales necessary for the successful running of the property and about the commercial network available to them and that they think about being able to develop. It is essential to analyse the potential markets before investing in a wine-producing property.

What is the strength of the Raveyre Firm?
We have been experts in wine-producing properties since 1992 and we are part of the Vinea Transaction network, which has included, since 2001, the 5 leading French agencies in that market. Each of us is a specialist in a wine-producing region, we have in our portfolio the majority of assets for sale and we know the wine-producing and real estate particularities of our region extremely well. Together, thanks particularly to our Internet website www.vineatransaction.com , which receives more than 200,000 visitors per year, we have gained the trust of an international clientele. Our excellent knowledge of the wineproducing transaction market has led us to regularly speak at conferences and we are often the main reference of economic, wine-producing or real estate reporters on that subject. Furthermore, it must be said that the best rosés of the world are being produced in Provence, thanks to a high technique, resulting from huge investments in wine cellars and vineyards, as well as the improvement of cultivation while limiting yields. Between 60 and 70% of the wine produced by the properties are rosés, with an average price per bottle which increases every year. It must also be noted that rosé is being increasingly exported worldwide.

How would you describe the new buyers?
Our buyers, French or foreigners, are first and foremost passionate people, who want to develop quality products, some in small quantities to produce "backyard wine" in enchanting surroundings with beautiful buildings, most steeped in history; and all this under the sun of the Côte d'Azur with its numerous charms…
